Horse Catching Frisbee - 3/2006

Would love your thoughts, etc. This is not the first animal I have drawn, but definitely not a norm to my usual style.

Very good design and composition. I would like to see more contrast. Any possibility of you adding some ink to this like "Ancient Beauty"?

Ah... As I would like to be more true to my style.. however I was restricted to the Graphite medium. Commissioned Peice. :)

Interesting pose though, huh??? There's a story there! :)

Thanks for the input!!!

From what the Lady who commissioned it told me..
This is an actual horse! But, not one who was specifically trained to catch Frisbees..

Apparantly, the owner played frisbee with the dog, and this young horse would mimic the dog by running back and forth as the dog did when catching the frisbee... at some point the owner tossed the Frisbee into the horse coral to see what the horse would do.. and as you can see.. he went after it.

When it was presented with the photo... and asked to do this I was simply amazed by the concept. This was a super fun peice to do.. And, overall I was pleased with how it turned out.

I just had to share with the folks here!

Nice sense of motion in the drawing. I agree about needing to have more contrast, but that could be due to the qualty of the photo or scan.

That is very possible.. I took it early this morning.. it was still dim outside so not a lot of natural light.. The picture in person is pretty dynamic...

I will try to capture a better one. :) in the mean time.. I have it print ready at http://www.cafepress.com/moonmajick to see it as is...

Thanks and Brightest Blessings!
