"Neighbourhood" - picture painted from my heart

Postby krysta11 » Wed Apr 23, 2008 12:38 am

This picture was painted in my heart for many, many years. I am so happy, that after so many years I did transfer it from my heart on canvas. Look at my painting, please, and let me know what you think about it. Every advice is needed. Thanks a lot.

Thanks Joe, I missed this one yesterday. Lrysta, the flowers, kids, cedars are very nicely done, they represent and ideal world, the long lost memories of childhood. I don't know if this is finished or not, if not, I'd suggest to further develop the house to make it slightly more three dimensional. Your progress if quite fast. Good job!

When I uploaded my images I looked at them closely and noticed some issues which already fixed. I noticed, that the boy hanging on the fence has fingers to short. I fixed it. The house? I don't know how to do it. I think that my camera doesn't show the originals to good. The windows on the painting have more visibal glass. More dark.
I will try to work on the house.
Thank you Joe for your comment. It is building me up.
And you Erika! You are my ANGEL. Thank you.
I am not ready to exhibit my art yet. I have to be sure first, that it is good level of art. I am selling it to my friends and neighours only. It is miracle , that my best friend's son went crazy with "His Angels". He wants it. I told him $800.00. He agrees. Next week he is coming to collect my painting.
Erika, Joe,

Listening to your advice Erika, I tried to work on the house a little bit more. All I did, made one wall slightly darker , also added few more dark lines near the roof. Do you think it looks better now?
Thanks.

Now I understand Erika what you were talking about. I've deleted an image in my gallery but I didn't realise it will be deleted here as well. Oh sugar! What Joe will say now? I did it before but my images stayed in the topics. Sorry Joe. Can it be replaced with the latest one? Thank You for your kindness.

Krysta, I can only give a general idea, I'm not a painter, hopefully you'll get more detailed advise by some of the painters. It's all about light and shadow and you will learn about that in art school. I think you should leave this one like as is, it is pretty.

The eye begins on the green triangle formed by the grass between the flowers. The children move our eye up over the fence where it is picked up by the cedar trees, thus moving us to the house. The contrasts made between the reds and greens assists us in this movement. One could say that the colors and composition confirm the subject, that being one of the struggle a child faces while playing outside of always being called back home.

Hello everybody,
Well, when I roughly finished my "Cascade...." I decided to have a little
eak from painting. Needed rest. On Thursday I inspected all my paintings and only five, I believe, are completely finished. The rest still need more work, especially "Neighbors"
I was looking and looking, and looking at my painting and at the same time I was thinking what my fellow artists told me. Bruce said " Don't be a prisoner of perfection"
Linda said. "krysta remember feel the frame as much as you can"
Mike said , "Your paintings should be more messy" ( When you throw 5 balls in the air..) Erika gently whispered - "It is long forgotten childhood" and Joe even more gently, "I think it looks OK , nice colors. I am sure Joe only said like that because he didn't want to make my blood pressure go up. After all of your advices I decided to do some more work on this painting. I have changed a lot. Tomorrow you will see yourself how important all of you are to me. I will upload this picture again. I love to be told what to do more with this picture.
Thank you for viewing and comments.

As you noticed I've added more trees around the house. The distance between the fence an house is more visible. I think the house was to much exposed before. Shading and shadows are also added. The right side of the trees is dark green. It looks grey only because I took photo when the painting was still wet.
Am I progressing?
Thank you my friends.
