Thank you everyone for the nice words. The exhibition season starts next week with a trip to Botkins, Ohio so we shall see what the rest of the world thinks about her. Wish me luck and thanks again for the words of support.

Thanks Erika, Joe and DLKeur. Erika it is actually Fiberglass with a stone finish. I mixed up powdered stone in a resin and applied it for the finish. I'll try and get a few more photos of different angles and post them in the next few days. Thanks for looking,

Steve

Hello everyone, It's been a while since I've posted again but I have been steadily creating. I finally got around to making this piece in a full size version. She is a little smaller than I originally planned but I am taking her to the Loveland Sculpture invitational and she wouldn't fit in my truck...

Hey Erica, No I didn't develop this technique it's a pretty standard recipe, but I have taught myself most of it by reading from books and trial and error.

Rusalka,
Thank you for your response to my sculpture. I am glad you find the style enjoyable. That helps me with my decision to continue to explore this direction of sculpting a little more.

Thanks,
Steve

Words of advice sought

I hope someone can give me some words of encouragement. I have been speaking recently with someone who owns a gallery in Atanta. We were getting close to working something out when I think I blew my chances. He asked me to submit a piece of sculpture for consideration with a price. I did and he wrot...

Well, Howdy to you too neighbor! It's a small world out there. Thank you for the kind words. I'm still learning with stone but I guess I always will be a student of art. So now I know of three of us Georgians on this forum. You, Johnwalkeasy and me. Are there anymore of us out there? We might have t...

Thanks for the fast response guys! I can reduce the size of the picture with no problem, but I have a few questions. 1. Is my name on the sculpture not enough? Or are you saying that because my name is on a picture it's not being picked up by search engines? I would like to keep the name of Gifted H...

Prowess

I just finished this other piece in my new body of work. Once again as in the last post "Harmony" let me know what you think about it. I'm going for a feeling with these sculptures let me know if I'm successful.

Thanks,
Steve

Thanks Joe, I think when I blow it up I may make the surface a little textured. I think that shoud give a little more interest to the piece. What do you think? I did some foam carving and laminating on a piece for a studio down in Atlanta and we put a textured finish on it and it looked fantastic. T...

Thanks Erika and John, I appreciate you taking the time to look at this and telling me what you think. I want to make sure it fits what I'm trying to evoke before I make the commitment to make it large scale. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and all the best wishes for the New Year! Steve

Harmony

Hey everyone. It's been a while since I last posted. I have been very busy lately, but it's been a good busy. I was asked to help out a sculptor here in Atlanta during the months of November and December, and I did. It was an invaluable experience. I actually got some experience in direct building s...

Thank you all for the kind words and suggestions. It's pretty strange. I often feel compelled to do certain pieces of art without any particular reason. So was the case for this piece. I just had to get it out and voice my opinion. Well I was on my way to Loveland, Colorado the other week and stoppe...

Hi All. I'm back from the Invitational. What a fantastic time I had. I made this event a goal 7 years ago to get invited to. It did not let me down. I got my invitation and wouldn't you know it my first year they featured my sculpture in the local paper to represent the show! Out of over 3500 sculpt...

Terrors Grip

Here is my latest sculpture. I call this piece Terrors Grip. This is my attempt to show the effects of terrorism on the world. The world is displayed as a sponge to demonstrate how terrorism affects all parts of the world no matter where it occurs. Like a sponge we all absorb the effects of terror.
