I don't know? I was thinking of adding just a touch of highlight but everyone who has viewed it likes it the way it is. I thought that maybe there wasn't enough of a suggestion of foam patterns on the sand. Also I thought of adding a small wave behind so it doesn't look like lake water. Any thoughts...

Wow! That's unbelievable. I don't know it really makes you wonder about how the galleries are run. Congratulations on selling the three pieces.

On my easel today

I am working in the middle phases of this seascape in oil. There are many things that need to be changed but thought that you guys on ASC would get a kick out of this one.

16x20 oil

You're right johnwalkeasy! I let it get the best of me, and felt intimated because it was my first non online submittal. It is nothing!
On a daily basis, I don't have much contact with other artists so these forums really help. Who knows, maybe I can use this to show the gallery other works.

Yes,
I wished that there would have been more of an explanation from the gallery owner on how this would have worked. I thought that if your work wasn't accepted or picked for that particular show then they didn't want the work and then you go to pick it up. Very vague.

Work Wasn't Picked for Gallery Show but They Want to Keep it

Yes, I called the gallery owner to pick my work that wasn't selected for the show but they like it, and want to use it as filler when the other works are sold. I'm new at this so I am just starting to understand the ropes here. I would have felt more at ease if the owner would have explained this to...

Thank you, Pehiatt, Erika, Menolly for the cheer up talks. And you all have such wonderful, and insightful advise. To be honest, this was my first physical, walk into a gallery submittal. I guess the defeat temporarily stung a little. And you all are absolutely right, I will get the wind back in my ...

Not a problem. My mother was Austrian/Hungarian decent, and my great grandfather was a nobleman from Austria.

How to deal with art gallery rejection

Wow! all I have to say sometimes life can be rough! I submitted two paintings for an open jury show at local gallery. Talking about putting salt in an open wound. I am fairly good at rejection but not at being strung along thinking that they will take my work. I gave the gallery 20.00, and drove clo...

This is a painting in pastel that I did of Arup's beautiful flower. I did get permission to paint.

I forwarded an email to the artist regarding his photo to paint a pastel which would be a derivative piece. If he/she agrees, may I post it at ASC?

Do I need permission to paint from a photo on ASC?

Do I need to get permission from the artist to paint from a photo that has been uploaded on to ASC? I found a photo that I like and would like to paint a pastel of it.

Thanks,
H.C.
