Wow. I wish I could take photos like that. Love the black and white one especially - really captures the mood.

Wow! Very nice Spartan. Hope you get a nice photo to show us when you are finished. I have been playing around with glazing too, but with oils. Right now I am working on a closeup of a swan standing in shallow water. I did the sand and gravel under him first in shades of yellow ochre - then glazed ...

Please don't apologize for your letting your opinion shine through Revad - if I was afraid of it I would have posted somewhere else!! Even if you would have ripped my painting apart I wouldn't have taken it personally - I love a good argument :D And thanks for your comments ehoeveler. I will get th...

After reading the comments from john and revad again, though - I do find myself needing to say a little in defense of my artwork. As far as my subject matter being boring - hmmmm, I think every viewer is going to find interest in different things. I personally love people and animals - all kinds, s...

Thanks Spartan :D I think everyone has a need to do there own thing - at least I do. I don't try to make my paintings look like a photo. I want you to feel like you are there, and more than anything else I try to capture the personality of whatever I am painting. I think its a way of making the anim...

Very very cool - I like it. Don't have a clue what the medium is or how to use it - but then I am older than dirt so what can I say. But I love the way it flows and the overall design.

 Thanks

I think when I am working on painting water , the sweat and frustration drip down mixing with the oil and making it look more realistic

New Oil

Just finished this painting of some juvenile swans last winter. I liked the subtle colors of the juveniles in the winter water. My 9 year old hates it though :D - she says "haven't you ever heard of the ugly duckling!!! You just painted 3 of them!!" haha God bless her for always being hon...

I don't know if its a hot spot or not  . But I am pretty excited, have 2 drawings going to shows in New York City in the next month - one to Greenwich Village and the other to the Salmagundi Club on Fifth Avenue, which isn't too bad for a country bumpkin from Oregon :D .

Very cool. I am partial to black and white myself - so I don't think it needs color. Keep them coming :D

I think you are right - it needs half an inch to an inch of the right hand side to be balanced. If I need to, I will take a little off the top and bottom to keep it from becoming square :) And thanks ehoeveler :) , his eyes are the main reason I HAD to draw this guy. He looked SO bored with the who...

Its probably the settings on the computer - they have all kinds of websites blocked, etc etc etc. Something about not being appropriate use of the computer while working  Some people have no since of humor...

to trim or not to trim

[i]I saw this guy at the fair and just had to draw him. He was tied outside the horsebarn and with all the people walking by he never lifted his head of the ground. lol Now I am getting ready to frame him and am thinking I should trim off a little on the right hand side of the drawing? But if I do, ...
