2 new drawings

Here are two new drawings I did last month. Both are conte'crayon on handmade papyrus paper - which is kind of fun but a pain in the butt at the same time :o Always happy for any opinions and/or critiques.

The first I call "Spinner of Yarns"

I think your charcoal portrait is very good (course, I am partial to charcoal) - BUT..........if you don't like doing them Don't. Go with your abstract art. Art is not about making other people happy - its about making You happy. And it looks like you have enough talent to do whichever you decide t...

After thinking about everyones comments over the weekend I do need to say a little in defense of my boyfriend who is actually a pretty darn good guy overall. I didn't mean to give the wrong impression of him - nobody is required ever to like my artwork you know. I think everyone missed where I said...

Actually, as old as I am getting to be I can take negative comments pretty much in stride. And it doesn't hurt to hear some negative comments that make you kind of step back and take a second look to see if you are going in the right direction or not. Sometimes though a bit discouraging. I have howe...

   :D Thank you every one so much for your feedback. It means very much to me as I don't generally have the opportunity to get other artists opinions. Of course, my website is still a work in progress (I just asked the kids to take the comment page out because it isn't working - co...

hahaha - just goes to show the pros and cons of being with another artist - he shows amazing patience with me being up til all hours of the night painting and stumbling up in the morning to get ready for work - but, he pretty much doesn't like anything I do and I have learned not to take him to any...

Study of a Swan

This is one of my new oils. I was interested in attempting to paint the shallow water and wet white bird (don't know how successful I was) My daughter likes it - and she is quick to tell me when she doesn't. My boyfriend doesn't like the colors I used, doesn't like the subject, and doesn't like the...

haha - I only tried acrylics one time - not for me, they dried while I was still contemplating what I wanted to do next!!! So I don't really know the cost of oils in comparison to acrylics. With oils, there is a wide variation of price depending on the color - some of the cobalt colors are worth th...

I think that it is an excellent portrait and very well done. The only thing I see that could be done different is to lose some of the lines. Parts of her look almost outlined - and I think in any realistic painting you should lose some of the edges and hard lines totally. Kind of like you did with ...
