Re: Geronimo

Thank you John. I know where you're coming from. He was just an ordinary man that wasn't looking for greatness, what transpired in his life brought out what was destined for his path, somewhat like the seed of a water lily that pushes itself out of the mire in a swamp.

Geronimo

"I was no chief and never had been, but because I had been more deeply wronged than others, this honor was conferred upon me, and I resolved to prove worthy of the trust." Geronimo. What are your comments on the painting?

Geronimo

Here is a little info about the subject; Geronimo, or Goyathlay ("one who yawns"), was born in 1829 in what is today western New Mexico, but was then still Mexican territory. He was a Bedonkohe Apache (grandson of Mahko). His wife, Juh, Geronimo's cousin Ishton, and Asa Daklugie were membe...

Waiting at the Rendezvous

This is what the paintng is about; In raiding and warfare expeditions, careful protective measures were taken for the safe return of all the participants. Each morning a designated assembly point ahead was recognized. High ground with a water supply was preferred, because it made for better observat...

Thank you. It does me good as I’m always taking inventory about my prospects. Sometimes I wish I had wings.

Al, WOW, is all I can say of what you’ve summarized about my work/talent. You see, that’s what I enjoy about this website. You meet people and read comments they make about your work and you think, “How did they know where I was going with this?” There is lot’s to tell and sometimes I get ahead of m...

Barb, Well happy camping. I also used to live in Santa Fe while attending the Institute of American Indian Arts back in 76-78. I participated in the Indian Market in 2006 and it rained the whole weekend. That was a first but I haven’t been back since, maybe next year as one of the board members appr...

Barb,
Thank you. that is quite a compliment. The Mescalero Apache Tribe lives on beautiful land. I haven’t been back there in many years but I hope to someday soon and rekindle old friendships. I suppose you are also looking forward to the Santa Fe Indian Market held in Santa Fe every year.

BlameitonDia,
Thanks. I dont know what to say. I painted the background on a whim knowing that I had a mixture of it in a small quantity and that i should use it to taint and not color since i couldnt remember what i mixed. but it turned out alright.

Bruce,
Thanks I need that. I know where youre coming from as I have been on that road before, many moons ago. After a time I was just a self proclamed drunk artist with no works to show for, All talk and no walk.
