yes, abstracts are almost un-critiqueable because they don't follow any rules. but i was surprised to see that the third one was a horse (and then i got it) because after viewing the 2 nudes, i thought the third one was a cool depiction of a woman bending backwards. goes to show - it's what the view...

no, please don't paint the background. is that metal for the face? if anything i'd find a way to push the ears back a bit so they're not on the same plane with the cheekbones. but it's very cool.

it's lovely. the dog is coming across pretty yellow on my screen and seems too yellow, but it's a sweet image.

Booted

hi, i can see why you like it. it's a pretty powerful image. i'm hoping the color isn't what i see on my monitor - is very dark yellowy color - but good in monochromatic style. good job.

nudes

i like looking at male nudes. i just don't like them depicted so realistically. when something is too real, it might as well be a photo. it's a matter of taste - and personal tastes are what motivate people to buy or not buy. and i don't have to like it to appreciate the work in it. there's a lot of...

thanks!

Ericka, i looked at your work. i'm always envious of 3-D people. i liked the Two Girls and the sculpted bowl best. very enjoyable. something you'd want around your house for a long time.

disagree

i think nudes should be painted in many ways besides realistically. i enjoy impressionistic and even modern styles. i've like the cartoons, for that matter, in Playboy. and i DON'T think male bodies are as good to look at as females. but males need to be depicted more often in untraditional ways to ...

i don't know what you need critique for. you have a lot of insight into birds. swans evoke different things in us. this is a fun piece. the shape of the chest makes me think of regal shields, which is very fitting for a swan. if i'd done this piece (and i wouldn't because i don't know how) i would h...

bird painting

if the bird had been in the middle ground, it wouldn't matter if it blended in like that but as a foreground image, it should stand out even if it's not the focus of your painting. good ideas Ted has (and see his work!). you could add another bird, one that's in front of the water and a little close...

She's right about the shadow. I'd deepen all the colors to keep it from looking timid. Pretty picture.

oh! i just saw the lake! i don't know. i think this painting is amazing and inspiring. the lake sneaks up on you. my favorite color is Naples yellow anymore and i love it in the sky. it's like a collage of New York state, near the falls and the mountains and the lakes. maybe back in the 1700's. if i...

Realism on top of surrealism

Must be a self portrait. Very bold. Very precise. Extraordinary. I guess I'm not actually that crazy about the realism of the man's body and face. Too literal a painting makes me feel voyeuristic for viewing it. And his attitude is one of unwilling servitude, like he's not crazy about silk sheets. O...
