Re: Metal Rabbit Ring that bell! Sculpture

Good morning Kristian. I understand. I have finished a painting in less than an hour and it took third place in an online contest. I have also taken more than seven years on a painting before I sold it. Sometimes I think that is just how the muse works. Your rabbit really is a nice sculpture.

Re: Latest Painting

Hum, nice practice material. Maybe if you use white glue such as Elmer's you could glue it to a solid surface such as luan plywood, the 1/8 inch stuff. Then you could apply gesso. Tip. We both know gesso is expensive. 47 years ago I prepared canvas with white acrylic primer paint and powered marble....

Re: Latest Painting

Response is pretty close to what I expected. It is a nice painting but could be so much better. Keep working and learning. That is what I do. Just push and grow until the last day.

Re: Latest Painting

Feeling a little testy tonight. So I will keep my comments subdued. The painting is fuzzy. You see the lines you did in the rocks next to the cub? That kind of definition needs to be carried through to the bottom rocks. And, include some deep shadows between the rocks on the bottom to add to the ill...

Re: Coming along slowly

Good morning Joseph. Not to worry, most people hold the idea that New Mexico is always hot. It will top 100 degrees for a few days in the summer and get below zero for a few days in winter. But most of the time it is simply pleasant. We do have water rationing, sort of. 7,000 gallons a month in the ...

Re: Coming along slowly

I really feel for all you who suffer from the ravages from the weather. That and the rising sea level. Next year and the year after will undoubtedly be worse. You see, there is not much news about the earth's orbit around the sun. We all know it is elliptical, but what is not common knowledge is the...

Re: Oil painting techniques

I see you just joined this site. Welcome aboard. Would love to see your work. By what I have read thus far, I assume you paint. Now to your question. For me, what technique I use is entirely dependent upon the subject matter or concept I am trying to display. A dramatic landscape could require palle...

Re: New artwork showing

Did you do this one? What medium? Where is the signature? I have learned that a painting or drawing is worthless without a signature. Oh yes, this is absolutely beautiful. Great contrast and realism.

Five days to the Cove

Well it happened again. While taking my midmorning after breakfast nap another painting coalesced in my mind's eye. While half asleep I watched a shifting kaleidoscope of drifting forms and colorful shadows swirl around from the perimeters of blackness becoming ever tighter to the center of the void...

Re: San Marcos Cafe

Good morning. The San Marcos Café is a small breakfast and lunch only café that looks like it was once a home. It is located on highway 14 just a few miles south of Santa Fe, NM. The highway is a scenic highway that goes from Santa Fe to Albuquerque and further south following an ancient route where...

Re: Two Stages Of The Same Painting

Good morning Joseph. Now my opinion about Fine Art America. The site is very large with so many artists, thousands. The artists are pleasant company who hold different online contests within the site. The paintings with the most votes win first place with a complementary comment of some sort as the ...
