Re: Grand Canyon VI

Good afternoon. Posting this update. I don't think I will be getting back to this for a few days. Maybe. I have a lot of other stuff that absolutely needs my attention. So enjoy.

Re: Grand Canyon VI

Good morning. I am kind of letting my mind and hand wander around with this one. A little shading here another line there and a scribble somewhere else and the drawing is starting to take shape. That high line on the right is not a continuation of the cliff presented on the bottom. Have to figure ou...

Grand Canyon VI

Good morning. It has begun. I have started Grand Canyon VI. I decided to start this painting by doing the white background for the sky on the canvas first so that it had approximately the same drying time as Grand Canyon V. I have a lot of other work to do in the month of April and I want this colle...

Re: Metall Raven

Good morning. Very interesting sculpture with the wings closed. It looks like it has contained power ready to burst forth at the slightest provocation.

Re: Grand Canyon V

Got the titanium white painted in for Grand Canyon VI done yesterday. Will be starting the drawing for Grand Canyon VI in a week or so. I think it will take me about a month to draw that one. So will be painting both Grand Canyon V and VI at the same time. That should be fun as I twist my mind throu...

Re: Grand Canyon IV

Well I have decided that I am going to varnish these paintings. Have to wait until the end of August to varnish this one. If I am on time I will be varnishing the Grand Canyon V and the Grand Canyon VI paintings sometime in December. Soooooo the four paintings will be ready for exhibition sometime i...

Re: Been awhile, been busy

This painting should be ready for the last step sometime in May. A clear coat of modern day spray varnish will bring out the full depth of color it currently lacks. I know it is recommended to wait nine to twelve months to let the oil fully dry. But it is so dry in New Mexico that I have learned it ...

Re: Hallo From Marcio Faustino :)

Good evening Marcio. Checked your profile page. You got guts. You appear to be educated and well trained. Your photo work reflects a level of sophistication as well as you having the photographer's eye. Your work is fabulous. I don't think many people these days even know what analog photography is ...

Re: Grand Canyon V

Good morning. OK, back to the drawing. Finished it yesterday. There are two posts today. Going to do the sky white background on Grand Canyon VI before I start the Grand Canyon VI drawing. Compared to what I have done to date I believe Grand Canyon VI will be the most complex and difficult painting ...

Re: Grand Canyon V

Good afternoon. While working on the drawing and visualizing the dramatic sky it occurred to me that I needed to lay in the titanium white background on the canvas and then return to drawing because of the drying time needed for that background. It took a full large tube of paint to get it the way I...

Re: Grand Canyon V

Good afternoon. Did a little more work on this today. Closing in on the finish of this drawing. The forms in the canyon are smaller and more complex to present than the foreground. Takes a little more time to see it, interpret it and then to present it than the foreground. So, only one progress post...

Re: new photo

Well I have seen this enough now to say a few things. Beautiful. But you know that. I see you worked for compositional integrity. I mean, in the lower left you have the orange browns earth tones. In the lower right corner you have the light greens that compliments the dark greens in the mountainous ...

Re: Grand Canyon V

Good morning. Had to take a break from grunt labor yesterday because my body refused to perform the duties my brain had planned. So, switched gears so to speak. Balance. I have three progress posts.

Re: Grand Canyon V

Good morning. Did a little more yesterday. I rather enjoyed getting trapped in the bluffs on the left. Defining shading, lines and darkening some areas to make forms clearer thereby giving the illusion of being closer than the canyon beyond. Enough said for today. I was really wordy yesterday. Only ...

Re: Grand Canyon V

Good afternoon Joseph. Thank you for your comments. I see you got my point. Balance. I have been know to get so focused on an issue or project that my wife drug me to marriage counseling; twice. I see myself falling into that trap again and am putting on the brakes so to speak. So much life to enjoy...

Re: Grand Canyon V

Good morning. I have a little to say about my past life, when I worked for a living, before I move on to drawing and painting process descriptions. Why? Because it is the foundation of how I think in order to create objects of beauty. And while of course, all our life paths are different, I think it...

Re: Grand Canyon V

Thanks Joseph. I have just about got the sky visual image in my mind and I like it much more than doing the bird thing. And, I agree with your last comments.

Re: Model T Through The Woods

Good morning Joseph. Thanks for responding. About the car window, I think that what you mentioned is what we as artists see in our work that everyone else misses. I know that I missed what you are talking about. I still think it is a charming painting and that you should leave it alone. At the art s...
