Re: Grand Canyon VI

Thank you Joseph, aka, Pooch. Appreciate your comments and sense of humor. I have a friend here that says I am getting really good at painting by the numbers with this Grand Canyon collection. Moving on. I just finished this drawing. Now it is time to transfer to the big canvas. Wonder how many prob...

Re: Grand Canyon VI

Good morning. I have solved my problem with the right blank space. I usually know it is correctly done when someone looks at it and says, "What problem, I don't see anything different from the rest of the drawing." I had to carry the continuity of the differing bluff layers while making it...

Re: BETTY BETTY

Well maybe the next one. I concur with everything you have said Joseph. Problem with some of us artists is that some of us are to thin skinned to deal with a truthful critique. Some of us even fold up to never post again nor even to display our work. Pity that some of us artists possess extraordinar...

Re: Another landscape becomes a wildlife painting

Hum. Thought so. There are times I come across as serious when I intend to come across as ironic or at least satirical. Most likely why I chose painting as something to do instead of writing. After about 30 years of writing reports, contracts, proposals, program designs, research papers, etc. I kind...

Re: Another landscape becomes a wildlife painting

Good evening Joseph. Glad you accept my critique. Moving on. No, I do not want to start a website. I am retired-retired. I enjoy this site and having discussions with other artists like you. I am just about over my artist's painting block. Can't wait to see what I do next.

Re: Another landscape becomes a wildlife painting

Good afternoon Joseph. Yes, this site will allow picture posts up to 1mb only. Nice rework of the trees. The moose needs a little more work with thickening the paint so the background does not show through as the moose makes a very nice painting addition being the focal point.

Re: Sunsets

I feel like I am being led down a rabbit hole with the coy question. Of course this is outstanding. Who did it?

Re: JAMES DEAN DRAWING REMBRANDT'S SELF PORTRAIT

Well you got skills, I'll give you that. I rather liked this before you put in all those vines and thorns. I was impressed with the unique idea of the artist inside the drawing being a part of the creation of the art. I didn't catch the idea of James Dean until you mentioned it on another post. With...

Re: I would like some feedback on my art :)

OK. Personally I find it difficult to look at sideways. It is distracting almost to the point of not wanting to bother with it. The drawing is a very stylized cartoonish and characterized presentation. I can see the transition occurring in style between your avatar standing on the stone walk beside ...

Re: Grand Canyon VI

No. And I think you are on the wrong website to be asking this question. You would be better off going to a hair loss blog website. Good luck.

Re: Pallet Knife Painting...Would Like Some Opinions

Good afternoon Joseph. I will be 72 on July 5. Not bad for being a guy told by a doctor in 1968 that I would never see 60. I agree that nothing is better than painting, but if we do not attend to life's tasks it shall become very expensive as we both know. Moving on. I do understand what you are say...

Re: Pallet Knife Painting...Would Like Some Opinions

Taking a break from upholstering two side chairs in our living room. I am not going to respond to the language in your post. I am responding to what I see as the spirit of your post. I think we are kindred spirits after a fashion. Yes you are getting it back. Not knowing what you had to begin with I...

Re: Pallet Knife Painting...Would Like Some Opinions

Good morning Joseph. It looks like you dragged the tip of the pallet knife down the canvas to make the trees. They are all hollow on the inside with paint buildup on both outer edges. They are all to uniform and there are to many of them. That causes a compositional conflict with the eye bouncing up...

Re: What inspires you to draw?

Good morning and you are welcome. Now, how can I eg you on, push you a little more or entice you somehow to show some of your work. A major learning experience is with the presentation of your work, receiving the critiques, considering the validity of those critiques, trying out the suggestions and ...

Re: What's important when painting?

Good morning. Actually, I think all artists consciously or unconsciously approach painting this way. I am still learning the pallet knife. Do you paint? If so, I would love to see your work.

Re: The reason

"There is something deep in us human beings that instinctively knows, appreciates and desires ownership of objects of beauty. And after all words, excuses and rationale vanish, it is the work of art that stands there or hangs on a wall all alone commanding the viewer to accept or reject it sole...
