Re: Eternal Beauty II

Good evening. I have finished the hands. I decided to do three progress posts so as to better demonstrate the development. I am closing in on the finish.

Re: Eternal Beauty II

Good afternoon. Walking this painting down to the finish. There are six progress posts today. I thought it was important to post four progress posts on the arm as a little more visual detail for the progression of the shading.

Re: Eternal Beauty II

Good afternoon. Boring and thrilling at the same time. Boring in that I have developed a production form pattern of sorts. Identify the shaded areas, and fill them in. Then add the lighter colors to give the rounded effect. Repeat and move on. Repeat and move on. Thrilling in that I see the form &qu...

Re: Eternal Beauty II

Good afternoon all. Continuing the form. I am painting this one by doing the form sections in the back sections first then the sections that overlay the ones in the rear. Kind of like I have mentioned before in my landscape paintings. Just keep laying in the background building forward until nothing...

Re: OK fellow artists and other kids

Good morning Jenifer. Yes I have received many comments about how the aspens look like fire. But you know what, they sort of do at just about sunset on a clear day. Could be one of the reasons artists trek into the mountains every year in the fall, me included.

Re: Eternal Beauty II

Good afternoon. I have done a lot of learning since the last post. I had to lay in the base flesh tone color over the unpainted section of the form and let it dry so that I could paint on it. The varnish over the drawing prevented a straight application of painting because the paint just slid around...

Re: Eternal Beauty II

Good morning. Well I will post nine painting process updates today. I think I have discovered, at least for me, how to make a really dark background that kind of looks black but isn't. It is a mixture of deep dark purple and raw umber. Once this was laid in I started lightening it with burnt sienna ...

Re: Eternal Beauty II

Good afternoon Jenn. I resolved my problem two days ago. It will be an oil painting. Letting the background dry before I go in and correct a few bobbles and smears. I also decided to record the painting process as I have made a few discoveries I want to remember by recording the event while fresh in...

Eternal Beauty II

Good morning. It took me about eleven hours within a two day period of time to finish this drawing. I am playing with the idea of doing the pastel type underpainting, or maybe skipping it because I am not sure I need to like I did in the Eternal Beauty painting. I might start Eternal Beauty III toda...

Re: OK fellow artists and other kids

Good morning. I felt a work flow attack. So I just followed it. Once the four skies had been painting in, which will be the first jpg posts on this message, I suddenly knew I had solved my problems I had with another series about paintings of aspens in the mountains above Santa Fe that I did about 1...

Re: OK fellow artists and other kids

Good morning. There are four 18 by 24 inch paintings in this series. I have started the posts from the very beginning of placing all four canvases on my easel and showing the first steps of mixing my paint colors. For this set of paintings I decided to try something different with the sky. Instead o...

OK fellow artists and other kids

Ok fellow artists and other kids. I saw a picture of digital art, I think. The artist kind of described how he does his work. Unfortunately, I didn't really understand him. But one of his pictures struck such a cord in me that I started seeing all kinds of pallet knife paintings of the landscape aro...

Re: Latest Painting (slight nudity)

Thanks for sharing your thinking and processes for creating a painting. I just love the light source coming from the sword in the Lady of the Lake painting which I think is a magnificent painting. Of course I knew I wasn't alone with the thinking part of the creating process, but what a pleasure to ...
