Hi there, have you ever tried carbon pencils? I recently started using them alongside graphite pencils. I found that going darker with graphite made the shadows shiny! Thank you Barb . I will try to darken it up...It is pretty dark now but photographing graphite is an art in and of itself. It really lightened up the shadow under the jaw quite a bit. If you have tips or tricks on photographing graphite or know of a forum post that speaks to this problem I would be ...

Yeah well, as a graphite artist myself I have to say...Wow!!Very nice tonal variation. The wood grain is very well rendered. Your darks are nicely dark and your lights are... well....light. Not that easy to do for a beginner like myself. Bravo on this work. :D
