As he seems a beginner; I would guess stick (electric Arc) as mig and tig both require more than basic knowledge. Oh, to avoid those darker moments, be sure to unplug a few things in the house before arcing up. If the electrode catches/sticks, it can short out fuses or trip out earth leak switches. ...

You are so right, happens a lot. An interesting way to sketch, and help you loosen up, is to sketch without looking at the paper - only look at the subject. This gets varied and interesting results, but don't cheat and try to be as fast as yopu can

Having welding qualifications myself, only ever use a welding helmet when electric welding, wear sunscreen on any uncovered parts of your body as weld burn is worse than sunburn. Always read the safety data sheet on the pack of welding electrodes as some types are carcinogenic, so you may need a res...

Mike,
A few days into April now, how is it going? Hope it's working for you. My first ever exhibition had me very nervous as you are hanging yourself on a wall for others to make judgement calls on. You never loose this, you just get used to it.
Hang in there, and enjoy every minute of it

A glovebox sketch

Well, no not of the glovebox in my car, but using what was in there. As a surfer and an artist, all that is in there is a few pencils, a pen and some wax. This is a heritage listed grain silo at a place called Little Jilliby, about 5 minutes from where I live. We drive past this daily to feed our po...

Cool, I like that. The subject stands outward without overpowering. I love digital imaging. I have no idea how to do this and am in awe of people like yourself who pop these out 'for fun'. Mate, amazing job

Don't we all dream of that; I have a small corner of the dining room/kitchen, but not having kids at home anymore means a bit more freedom.
I don't have to pack things up, just keep things tidy.

The world was always smaller than we could imagine, and now in the age of the web, even smaller still. Accents and language aside - we are all human, and all fascinating in our own way. Funny thing, but all of our pets have similar emotions and pick up similar character traits; their view of the wor...

Aussie Autumn (sorry - Fall for Nthn Hemi)

This is one of my favourite times of the year. Summer here was hitting near on 40 c every day with over 70% humidity. Fun for about a week or so, then the lack of sleep and constant overheating starts to run you down. Now, in mid Autumn, the temp is a mild 24c and only 55% humidity - all systems nor...

New here - Hello all.....

Hi, My name is Geoff. I have always been doing something artistic from my earliest memories. I am self taught and work in all media, but prefer watercolour and ink & wash to others. Most om my work are sketches, done on the hop with minutes to spare - because I like that sort of pressure I suppo...
