I'm curious about the way other members work. How many of our painters keep a sketch book and sketch...What kind of formal art instruction you have all had or are you self-taught? Do you sketch and study or just start with a blank canvas? How often do you paint? Do you have several things going at o...
This is quite amusing. I used to play with potatoe heads a lot...as an adult! Actually, in a work setting, with a student of mine. It feels good to see them ran over and stuck all silly under the roller, and I love the combinations you came up with on their faces...I found myself arranging and re-ar...
This is funny! And I like that even though it's a funny cartoon, it's correct as far as light source and shadow. I like the background color you chose. The animals crack me up!
Great news Barb! Be safe and have a Wonderful trip. We will miss you while you're gone...and don't forget to come back to us. I really enjoy your art and posts! Have a Great Time!!
Thankyou! I love the mountains and cabins...don't much like the snow, but if I had a warm fire, some marshmellows and the hopes of seeing a Big Bull Elk...I'd stay out in this mt. cabin in the snow! Thanks again for support and comments!
Feels like it comes from the High Renaissance period...like Michelangelos Expulsion From The Garden of Eden. It is very nice. Nice composition and use of lights/darks. Good contrast and the images are rich. Well Done!
I think it's looking good so far. I like Dez in this one, but I think in the photo, her hair color is a little lighter. As as for the waterfall, I agree with Mike...in the photo, the waterfall is narrower at the top and it comes down at a steeper decline than your painting. But the rest is almost pho...
Thanks Mike! Yea, I'm proud of this one...not that I did the actually tattoo--gun-on-skin...but I drew the images to be transferred. I have done several of my daughters friend's tattooes as well. I should keep a file, huh? lol Well, now if I could get all my photos to come out this way!
This is a tattoo I drew up for my beautiful daughter Whitney. She is half Navajo, so the tattoo is her Indian name which is Teh-le-ah Nem-se-Quah which translates to 'Butterfly Princess'--She Who Changes'.
Thankyou Mike! I have a particular fondness of this one. Probably because my father framed it using some weathered barn boards. It has a really nice rustic look to it!
It looks great Karen. Almost 'photo-real'. The waterfall in the photo has a little less water at the top and a seems little wider at the bottom. In the painting, your waterfall at the top is almost jetting upward, where in the photo, it is spilling down at a little different decline. I think what Mi...
...about the bigger picture. The painting is a 16"x20" but I don't know how to take it any bigger, and upload it without using my digital camera--which makes the filesize too big. Am I missing something about taking pictures? Maybe use a different program--zip file or something (I really d...
...any suggestions with taking the photos, uploading them to the site? Much is lost from the original artwork to the site. I have an older digital camera but have had to discard those photos and use my camera phone because I can't sem to load them due to the sizing of the file. What do all of you us...
...studio? Would be great. I too suffer from 'scattered studio syndrome'. Working out of a living room corner with my easel being dragged from corner to corner...wherever the majority of my piles have accumulated to. In my bedroom, sitting on my bed... out of rubbermaid buckets and boxes.
I really enjoy this one Mike. The sky and clouds are wonderful! I agree with barb, the detail is great. It is subtle but has a rich fullness! Viewing this painting takes me back to the Oregon coast. It's like steppin' right out there onto the beach. Makes me 'feel' the wind on my face and 'smell' th...
This is a 12"x16" acrylic on canvas paper. Another beginning painting of a moonscape/silouette. Again, lighting and saturation of photo isn't real great. Looks too ight at top and too dark on bottom compared to painting. Still working out the bugs I guess. Still trying to figure out what m...
Oil study of apple blossoms on 11"x14" canvas paper. This was one of my beginning paintings and wasn't really defined well. photo looks a little washed out. background is a lot ighter green in true life.
