Re: Advice on faces

good work, I like the lady's eyes better than the man's. They seem to have more heart. Human faces all have such differing characteristics and are not always easy to bring to life. I sincerely think you've caught the lady better than the man.

Re: Charcoal Work

Very nice work, especially for a newbie to charcoal. I love charcoal too. Perhaps if you take your hand and place it to block out the far right side, from the reflection to the edge, you can see that the distortion comes from the darkness and the fact that your fence line goes wider at the edge. It ...

Re: I am ready for the fury

She's beautiful! The only thing I personally would have done is made her hand a bit darker on the inside. The light is very strong coming in the window. Seems to me the shadow would have been a bit stronger.

To Palmate, or not to palmate... that is the question. lol

As you can see in my photo, I am working on a painting of palms in the sun and need some advice. Do you think I should fill the top right corner with anches (of an encroaching palm from the right) or not. There will be more on the bottom right. I realize the painting is heavy on the left, but someti...

[size=12] Hi Karen :D Nice to see someone painting Pa. I lived there for 30 yrs., in Potter & Tioga Counties. Your back ground, rocks and trees are great. Have to agree about the girl, I don't think she ads to the painting. Just my opinion. Kinzua Dam is a wonderful place wish I could be there t...

Welcome Brigitte, I'm new here too, just joined last month. So far, I like it a lot. I agree with the previous comments. Most of my life I was a "hobby painter" but I decided to go back to college to learn how to really paint. I love it. Perhaps, you'll do that too. I've been to Austria se...

Hi, Just wanted to say I really like this image. It reminds me of several photos I took while walking in the Botanical Garden of Singapore. The trail just sort of disappeared into dense jungle.

Hi Candy, I've been to Vienna also. I told my husband at that time, that I couldn't go to Europe and not go see the stallions perform at the palace in Vienna. We went and it was a high point of our trip. That was many years ago but not forgotten. Have fun on this site.

New to list, not to art :-)

Hi all you fellow art addicts. It's nice to meet you. I love seeing all of your creations. I'm a returned student (after a 35 yr. leave) to the University of Iowa (go Hawkeyes). I returned to college to study art and learn how to paint. Looks like I did something right! Check out my new gallery her...
