Great Grandma

Hi, I've been gone for a few weeks but I'm taking time to work on art once again. Here's a portrait I've been working on. It's one of my Great Grandma. It's from a small 1x1 grainy fuzy scanned photo. Doing it was like a history lesson on relatives facial features. It's amazing how many of her trait...

Hi Erika,

Great concept and composition. How do you get the foil to stick to the paper? Does the paint hold it in place? Did you make your own paper too? Looks like a fun project. You're so multi talented :D .

So was it a boy or a girl that won the race?

Gorgeous work Mike,

I think this is one of my favorites that you've done. Do you come up with these vista's in your head or are they places you been physically?

I love this. The story it tells, the colors - the use of yellow and purple, the action/tension. This is great stuff. It just pulled me in. Just wonderful.

Hi,

I like the start so far. The eye just is pulled in by the
ick road.

I have to agree with Rich. Also remember that warm colors
ing things forward and cool ones make things recede. Hope it helps.

Hi Karen, Oh I've got lots to get caught up on. This in particular, gorgeous!! And your DIL is too. As I was scrolling thru it was the 3rd pic that reminded me of O'Conners (?) Mill near Butler, PA. My DA's side of the family is from there and we'd spend hours hiking around there, playing in the wat...

Hi Barb, Beautiful bg. I like it's softness and atmosphere. I do see the stream as a little distracting as it comes toward the horse face. Not sure if fading it or ing it's tonal values down will help make it not look to intercepting... I see your other horses you do are bold in color and am wonderi...

Thanks for your input ladies. I'll take that into consideration Erika.

That's a good idea about sending the pictures to an account. I always do wip pics and place them in my hard drive. As my dad says this kind of thievery is a back handed compliment.

Love the flowers at the bottom and the blue mountains. There's something about the color of the sky that throws it. Maybe it needs more of a gradient? or a different color....? magenta or purple? Can't put my finger on it, maybe someone else can. Wonderful composition. I like your new take on the la...

I don't think you need to. It does it all on it's own. What beautiful colors. I just am enjoying taking in all the colors and movement. Wow! It's so white and blah around here it's nice to get a retnal fix of colors :D .

What medium?

Hi Barb,

I love it. I admire horses and love them as animals but I'm not a horse person and I still enjoy looking at this piece of art. I can't see what eye your having problems with. It's just such a calm looking beautiful horse.

Looking for Beta tester

Hi, I've just finished a total redo on my website and am looking for feedback. What instigated the redo has to do with people stealing images off line. I actually found one on a blog with their name photoshopped into my image! Another one on a lude website - had to contact the FBI on that one.... So...

Hi SaraDarlene, Thanks for your comment and idea on the gradiant background. I always seem to fight with backgrounds. This started out with a gradiant, still has a slight one but would be nice if it had a little more contrast as the camera doesn't pick up blue very well. Thanks Weirdpuckett. ...

A while back I was working on a jelly fish painting in the work in progress section. Finally got a picture of it. It is 24x48 on MDF in oil.

Beautiful work Barb, I just read through your WIP section.... it's a job well done. Hair or fur is always difficult and this guys looks great. T he only thing I would change....since this is the fury section.....is add a little speck of white to his eyes so there is some reflection in it. Keep up th...
