Thank you sir...

Thank you sir. I think this one turned out better than the previous one. Maybe I'm learning some things.

Thank you for your kind words.

Thank you for your kind words. It means a lot. I've reworked this piece which was originally done this past early Summer. I felt that the background needed to be pushed back further and also, it needed an image on the canvas.

Here's the still life fixed again:

I've added flames to the candles, and reworked the candles and pedestal some:
(Now I see some fuzz in the background. Hard to get this stuff exactly right...

I've added some flames, but......

Interesting, because I just painted some more. The contest deadline, (for one of them) is tomorrow. So.....I've had to hurry....The self-portrait is done, so now, I'm tinkering around with this still life. I lit the candles and put flames on them. Sure made a difference, but my struggle is getting t...

Thanks for your thoughts...

Thanks Al, I haven't been able to respond from our other computer, due to problems with some spyware...But I can with my laptop. Your ideas are good ones, and I have even entertained the idea of lighting the candles and attempting that, "but" not totally sure yet. I did add a subtle light ...

Thanks for your comments

Thanks for your comments. I do think I should stay away from trolls; especially the kind that hides out under the idges. Truly, this other guy was mean-spirited and not altogether right in his criticisms. At any rate, I see your point about the sizes of the candles and pedestal for balance sake. I'm...

re/ideas

I like your use of color and how the painting is composed. I would like to see a bigger pic of the painting, and also, where you have the red/burgundy colors, it would be good to include some more "darks" within and next to those colors. A successful painting, whether it is abstract, reali...

Those were comments from someone else from another forum...

Karen,
No, no , no.. What I sent in in the last was what someone else had said to "me" from somewhere else about this painting of mine. Does that make sense now? I appreciate your compliments. Hopefully you understand now what I was saying. Let me now

Thanks, someone from another forum said this: thoughts?

It is a "Fair" Practice Piece, regardless... <BreadPhobia> 2009-10-27 get a clue, here... A glance at the headers on this topic, not even bothering to read the actual posts, shows clearly that you: 1. Have some VERY BASIC skill issues with Art Composition Elements (Point, Line, Shape, Spac...

Here it is redone:

Here it is redone. I did some major reworking and eliminated the plant, added a small necklace on the end of the table, and an obscure background to suggest some forms in the background. I think it helped it. Go here: http://www.angelfire.com/in/HansonArtGallery/neweststilllifelast.JPG Regards, Tsey...

Thanks, the necklace shadow did indeed cast a shadow like that. I know it maybe looks like it shouldn't be try something like this, and see what it looks like. The pillar I've noticed isn't exactly perpendicular to the side of the canvas, but the side edge has seemed to be all right according to oth...

New still life painting idea

I've been working on a new still life painting, and I've thought this might be finished. I have some concerns with the composition though because of some imput from another art forum. I am going to post another example that eliminates the pillar and plant from the right side. Some have thought the c...

thanks Weirdpucket

Thanks Weirdpucket. I guess I do look a little like an artist, probably just because of the hat, beard and all. I work in the laundry room, it seems like a pretty good place because I won't spill paint on the carpet and I'm away from everyone else, except for the laundry and litter box for the cat. ...

Newest portrait

I decided to do another portrait of myself; this time in the laundry room.

This is where I paint. Kind of difficult to get the best photo of it; but for now, it's the best one I could do.

Thanks,
Stephen

Thank you both for your comments. P.S. I've been getting back into painting and have enjoyed doing some portraits lately. This was done in oil.
