Thanks for the comments, sorry it took so long, I've been on the road all week.
John- I use acrylics to paint on the slate, along withe a fine line
ush snd my fingers to blend the paint .For some reason I have to touch the surface I'm working on.

new one, pheasant on slate

Its hard to see in this picture,cheep camera, but I used pearlesant white acrylic mixed into the paint on the neck an face, which really looks life like.

Karen-

I use acrylics on slate all the time. The big trick is to make sure to clean the slate to get any dirt off, from being on a roof.

Barb, No the red spot is actually the paperica in the spice cabnet showing thru the nail hole in the slate
