Menolly.... it appears to me that you might have done an underpainting to begin with, then applied a transparent or slightly semi-opaque glazing over the entire painting using a notched adhesive trowel. Close?

Ptrotter.... very nice. The loose, fluid style emphasizes the sense of spirituality.

Ericka.... I have indeed done approx. 20 reviews/critiques in graduate level Art History while at University of Northern Iowa. The first few were quite daunting to say the least. They are always a lot of work but will become easier as time goes by and you become more familiar with the process. Be we...

ByArt... very moving. I've been feeling this way very much this past year since my mother passed away. Spring is here now and am feeling a bit better and contemplating another major move. Damn, I have starting over again... oh well.

I love the painting... but I would be less than honest if I did not point out some ethical {copy right} concerns. I'm not familiar with Godward, but will do some research.

My experience is that if it smudges easily, you may need to apply additional coats of fixative.

Bristol board

Hey!...... it is my experience that the heavier {3 & 4 ply} addresses for the most part the rigidity of the board and doesn't really have much to do with the working surface. At one time you could choose between three different working surfaces ranging from hard/smooth to medium hard/textured. H...

Harmony

I feel the angst here. Maybe you could combine these elements in a different way as a single piece. I'm not sure.
Try submitting it to a different group... maybe you just need to find the right venue?

Brian... Ditto to all! Don't you think it's time for you to get some work reproduced as prints? I do. Think about Imagekind; I'm getting geared up to send them a bunch of images after getting copyright registrations.

WP... unfortunately, in today's digital world there is in fact a real need to copyright work especially if it posted online. If your work is a capital venture {sold as a livelihood} it is VERY important to protect your interests.

Perhaps Joe would like to address this discussion?

Sorry to say I liked the previous version a bit better... compositionally. the darker rocks in the foreground anchored the painting better.
