Re: New work

The background yeah. I finally stumbled onto the last piece of this puzzle. I remembered reading of how the old masters started their paintings and tried that technique in the top portion of the painting, it worked but without using a single brush. Thank you very much.

Re: The Deer Hunters

True, it's the inspiration that struck me at the time that led me to do this painting is what I was thinking about. This will eventually lead me to what it was that I wanted to follow with, just need to get into that channel.

Re: Leaving Hell's Forty Acres

Thank you Sidney. The quails were somewhat of a challenge, not painting them but whether I should give their wings a moving effect or gliding.

Re: Leaving Hell's Forty Acres

Thank you. If you look closely, there is a ford barely visible above the rider on the right. just left of the there is where the old foundations of the barracks, stockade, church, etc. can still be seen when the San Carlos Lake is at low level. The lake is impounded by Coolidge Dam, completed in 1928.

Re: The Deer Hunters

Yes it does, Thanks. I started to do a companion to this one but I wanted to see the reaction of the public, not that it matters now. I've sort of lost the perception of just what it was going to be. I'll just ponder over it until I get it back I suppose.

Leaving Hell's Forty Acres

“Leaving Hells Forty Acres” is a depiction based when the U.S. government attempted to move the Chiricahua Apache from their traditional homeland to the San Carlos Reservation, a barren wasteland in east-central Arizona, described as "Hell's Forty Acres," now known as Old San Carlos.Geroni...

The Deer Hunters

I tried to depict a time when survival depended on skill and agility. No microwaves here.

Re: Please critique..

There is the feeling of loneliness in these photos, very deep. I've spent plenty of time in hunting camps, and there is always that feeling in the camp that sort of creeps in after the sun has slipped away. The darkness makes you grope for movement or signs of life but there's none, there's only sou...

Re: Geronimo

Thank you Sidney,
I recently took this painting to the Heard Museum's Indian Market & Fair and people were saying exactly the same thing as your friend.
