More Political Art

Hi, All - Any and all comments welcome. I created this piece as part of a collection that is almost complete. Ironically, 5 of the 6 colors on a trivial pursuit board correspond with the 5 colors in our 'Terrorist Alert Level' system. The best part is that one piece (or shall I say spell it 'Peace' ...

The irony of war and religion is definitely part of my message. Religion, all of which ostensibly seek peace, leads to war. Hence the tank and the cross, with the Bible, placed in the corner of a traditional American living room. The subtlety is 2 fold. One, the tank is in a frame, as if it is a pie...

It's funny that you mention the paper. It was bothering me too, so I fixed it today. I will get a picture of the new final version later this week and post it.

Adjustments mad

Hi, As promised, here is the photo with changes. I've included the first so you can see, again, what I started from. The second is what it looks like now. One word: the blue is not true in any of these photos. It's actually quite vi ant in reality, but appears washed out. I will eventually have prof...

Well, I used the drawing you provided last night to enhance the piece and it worked wonderfully. I've now got a new perspective on how to create perspective in the 2 D world (Pun intended). I didn't have a chance to photograph it last night - my 'studio' is at my others. I will get a photo, probably...

I will definitely post a larger version after I resolve the the perspective. The politics are very subtle, but they are there. Look to the books in the bookshelf, where the turret of the tank is pointing, and the headlines in the paper on the shelf. Those are the clues.

That really helps. I will work on it, get a new photo, and post when completed.

Thank you. That really helps. The books, then, rather than being 'parallel' to one another in the bookshelf should gradually 'turn' toward the vanishing point, as the lines do in your second drawing?

Thank you for the feedback. Can you be more specific about where the perspective falls down? I think you mean the perpindicular wall (the solid blue wall). Am I correct? What can I do to clean it up?

collage and acrylic

More new techniques for me.

This one is collage. The message is very subtle, but highly political. The photo is, unfortunately, washed out a bit.

All comments welcome.

New Technique

Hi, All -

I've been playing around with a new splatter technique for abstraction and wondered what you all thought.

All comments welcome

El Greco

He was a major influence on Picasso as well. Or, that's that they say at the Getty, anyway. This is by far my favorite religious painting, primarily because it conveys so much more than piety.

What I like about this painting is that it has a real three dimensional feel for me, almost as if I'm looking at a sculpted surface. The white, especially, feels like it floats to the surface with the intense red on the bottom right appearing to sink into the background. The palette is haphazard, at...

Abstraction & Contemporary Art

Hi - I welcome your comments and feed back on these paintings. They are a new 'type' for me. These are highly symbolic and both of them contain an intended message with subsequent commentary. Look closely at the ush stroke on 'Fa ic of our Great Nation'. I used the word 'hypocrisy' as the only ush s...

Thanks for the feedback. I'm working on the Zagros Mountains painting and have put some final touches on 'Pastoral Ireland'. Here is a decent photo of 'Pastoral Ireland'. I firmed up the horse and changed the cowboy to a little girl.

Nice!

I love this photo. I don't know if you did this intentionally, but I see two German flags, one on the left and one on the right.
