Sails Aglow

"Sails Aglow" is my most recent 18 x24 oil painting on studio canvas.
This painting was inspired in part by the ships sailing into Marina Del Rey California, and part of a current series.
It will be included in my upcoming artwork exhibit.
Any thoughts or comments welcome.

Sailing in Solitude

I've been painting in oils for a few months now, and more recently have been preparing for an exhibit of my art at a local library gallery. This 18 x24 on studio canvas will be part of that exhibit. It was inspired in part by the surroundings of Marina Del Rey California, which is near to where I gr...

Silent Valley (wip)

This acrylic on a 12 x16 canvas is my latest painting in progress, and is inspired in part by the Southern valleys and mountain ranges of the Sierra Nevada's and Calaveras county in California. I've been working on it for a couple of days now, an hour here and there, so hopefully it will be complete...

Another Western World

This acrylic on a 12 x16 canvas is my latest that I painted last night.
It happens to have an almost outer western world feel to it, perhaps a far off distant planet.

Southwestern Majesty

This 12 x16 acrylic painting on canvas is my latest, and pretty much my favorite so far.
This painting took approximately 5 hours for me to create, though well worth the effort.
Any thoughts regarding this piece is always welcomed.

Thank you Jen! it was lots of fun to create.
I plan on painting others with a similar theme. Hope that it's an improvement over my last painting that I posted.

Re: Practice with Mediums

I have yet to add any texture mediums, as I am concerned about the outcome. Though I may try one painting as see what happens.

Red Butte Valley

This original acrylic painting on a 12 x16 traditional canvas was inspired in part by a visit to Zion National Park a couple of years ago. I have always been fascinated by the Southwestern portion of California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona. Especially the Painted Desert region of Northern Arizona and M...

Re: Practice with Mediums

With number of my recent paintings I have used an acrylic extender medium in order to create more dramatic blending, along with preventing the paint from drying too quickly on the palette. I've attached two recent examples of my paintings in order to illustrate. Have any other artists used an acryli...

Southwest Valley study

I painted this landscape with the intention of adding it to my current Artwork presentation.
I tried to capture a varied colored and dramatic sky, along with proper light and shadow. It was created with acrylics on a 10 x20 canvas.
I would welcome the thoughts and opinions of fellow artists.

Oceanscape for painting demo

I plan on using my latest oceanscape painting as the basis for my upcoming live demonstration. Would there be any improvements I could make, any changes that would make the painting more compelling?

Re: Rock formation sunset

I work from memory, from the various trips and drives across the Southwestern Mohave and Sonoran Deserts.
My other subjects include oceanscapes inspired by the central and northern coast of California where I lived for several years, and traveled numerous times.

Re: Rock formation sunset

It does change the overall scope of my painting, though certainly a fine example of a certain light source and point of view.

Re: Rock formation sunset

Thank you for your input and suggestions, as it's always good to hear from other artists.
Attached is the finished painting. As you can see I have quite a lot to learn about proper technique, though enjoyable to paint never the less.

Rock formation sunset

This painting is currently in progress and fairly early stages, as I have just blocked in the basic shapes of the rock formations.
I've had slight difficulties in the past with creating rocks, and would like any pointers or ideas.

Thank you!
