Awesome! I did the squint test on this piece...I saw dark values, midtone, and very light...all great qualities in a painting. The background with its blues does a wonderful job of creating depth. If I was wealthy I would offer you a tidy sum for this.

New Mexico Landscape - Oil

I was in Taos, NM in Feb. and found this stream, supposedly a great trout fishing area, that feeds into the Rio Grande. There is a lot of color in the rock cliffs and water, which is what prompted me to paint it. The jpg is just a tad blurry....I'm still working on getting a better picture of it bef...

I don't have the original in front of me, but I do have a larger jpg, which I examined and it appears that there are three problems: the fisherman's feet are actually in the water, so his legs look too short...I can fix this by painting more blue around his ankles; the arms look too beefy, because t...

Surf Fisherman On Hilton Head...Oil

I have often observed people surf fishing on the beaches at Hilton Head, SC and never thought any of them were overly serious about catching anything...they just seemed very relaxed and into being away from something more stressful.

Coastal Watercolor Scene..Hilton Head

This is an 8x10 watercolor that I recently completed after too many months of running a business and not enough time painting. The re-connection to painting came swiftly.

Plein Aire

Plein aire painting is not easy, and with this piece, you have done a great job. The meandering creek through the colorful marsh grass keeps the eyes moving about the painting and into the focal point of the tall trees in middle ground. A few specks of ight white, representing a small flock of White...

focal point

I think it is quite obvious that my focal point it the great egret...strong contrast and location in the composition makes it so.

Thanks for the compliments everyone! I am self taught and have been painting for just under 8 years. I have studied all the books I could find on art principals, especially composition structure, read numerous art magazines, and studied the impressionists a lot...both American and European. I have a...

Lowcountry Oil Painting

A recent oil painting of the South Carolina lowcountry was done in a loose, impressionistic style.

New rock star figurative work.

Led Zeppelin is one of my favorite music groups, and Robert Plant (pictured here) is the bold, and colorful lead singer. I tried to portray him as just that... with a loose style with bold
ush strokes.

This is a very nice piece of work. The lighting is just right...highlights on the woman and dark background give great contrast and make the subject very pronounced.

Re: question

First, thanks for the info. Now, two questions actually. Is the site free? and is what you had there the limit for images or can you have more? Thanks for your time. Dave The site costs me $28 a month. There is no limit to the number of paintings I can have. There are other sites like it and some a...

I like the painting...the style is unique. I see that it was done 5 years ago. Do you have anything recent that you could post here so we can see how your newer work compares?

This is a really nice piece of work! It is so soothing and peaceful and the dark section of wave keeps your eyes in the picture and moving around from there to the foreground and back. I am happy for your move in a new direction as a result of this work. Change is the true mark of an evolving artist.

Looks good and you are moving to right direction. Some more rinkles in the sheat under him could be helpful and maybe some darkening the area where the body touches it. The sheat covering his buttocks could be more defined to show the curve of it and maybe the hand under head looks a bit odd, but o...

It's refreshing to see an artist paint the male nude. It seems that most do females even though both sexes are equally attractive...at least that's my opinion. Great job. I can imagine how challenging this must have been.
