Re: I returned to an earlier painting that I wasn't happy wi

Thanks, Joe. Was having one of those, "I don't know what I want to paint," moments and looked over at this one. "Let's see what I can do with that." I put it up on the easel and went to work. Detailed the background, lightened momma bear, added that raised area in the river behin...

I returned to an earlier painting that I wasn't happy with.

I'm glad that I didn't paint over it as a sometimes do when I'm not thrilled with a piece that I've done. Hope you like it.

Re: Yet another lake.

And they really ARE out there, too. And snakes. There was a Pygmy Rattler in my pool just after the Hurricane.

Re: Yet another lake.

Thanks, guys. The scene attracted me because of the old, bleached white, fallen trees laying in the water. They look like Dinosaur skeletons.

Yet another lake.

If you're gonna do landscapes in Florida, you better like painting trees and water!

Re: The Bride

Nicely done. A coat of varnish, when you're finished, might give it that sheen you want. You use acrylic, so at least you don't have to wait six months before varnishing it.

Re: Still trying to save this

Since I did this on paper, I was able to trim it a bit which fixes the composition. A bit off the left and a tiny bit off of the bottom, and a much nicer picture I think.

Still trying to save this

A reworking of a painting that I've already shown. I think it may finally be turning into something I like.

Re: "The Sanctuary"

Well, damn!!!! Congratulations. I'm glad to have taken a small part in your victory however small that was. How cool is that. Hey, speaking of contests, whatever happened to the results of the animal painting competition right here? Juried voting was over two months ago. And that painting, above. I ...

Re: "The Sanctuary"

Oh now, c'mon. This is the first one of your suggestions I didn't act on. But, actually, I'm still not happy with this, completely. And I know that the problems are all in the foreground. It's not just the bush, I think. That still may go. I may redo that whole area. I'm even liking the idea of show...

"The Sanctuary"

"The Sanctuary." Against popular opinion I left in that foreground bush. I like it! Honest opinions, please.

Composition Question...

I'm painting scenes from around the area I live in. So many beautiful spots. This one is right at the entrance to our development. Anyway, the question. Remember, it's a work in progress. My wife says that the bush closest to the foreground is distracting. I agree with her, sometimes, about my work....

Re: Latest Painting. "The Getaway."

Thanks a lot. I'm finding animals to be my favorite subject. By the way, should'nt we be hearing the results of that contest soon? Not that I think that I may have won, of course! You know, just curious.

Re: Latest Painting. "The Getaway."

Thanks. I'm pretty happy with it, but I may tweak it a bit. I think the woods, on the right side, could use a little work.

Latest Painting. "The Getaway."

A Sockeye Salmon manages to escape the glutches of a Grizzly. I had fun playing with the splash and the bubbles. I wanted to try showing the splash from both above and below the water. You can tell me if I pulled it off,or not.
