Great advice- and thanks for the visual. Makes perfect sense now that I think about it,,, the forearm on the main figure is further from the body, so that part of its shadow should be lighter. Let me know if this version works better:

Thanks for the advice and comments. I tried to soften the shadows a little on the main figure, and added some other small adjustments throughout the painting. This photo isn't quite as clear as the last one unfortunately, but hopefully it's clear enough to see some of the changes.

Hey everyone.
Thanks for all of the comments! I got a chance to work on the painting a little bit more- Here's a slightly updated image of the painting. This photo also came out much clearer than the first.
