Re: Painting, your opinions would be interesting to read.

I find the use of your name over the top of the picture to be very distracting.

Other than that, it reminds me very much of the work of the artist who did the Magic Garden in Philly.

Re: Blue Devil Looking for feedback

Needs texture and more shadows in the background, really focus on where the light is coming from in this.

Re: new stuff

I don't know, I rather liked the first one. The second to seemed to simple to me. As if they weren't finsihed.

Re: Angel in Flight

I love the work on the wings. Very nice!

I would tighten up the legs a bit. Some of the detail gets lost there and the two just sort of blend intogether. For being new this is very nice work :)

Re: Here is my attempt at digital painting.

You did a very nice job with the skin tones here. Skin tones are hard and you did very well. This piece would be even better if you added some texture to the skin and clothing. Right now it looks little on the plastic side. Prehaps a diffrent background? Either a solid color or some sort of actual s...

Re: Latest drawing

I don't know if there's more to the red bit that's being cut off by the picture but I feel like there should be more of a red influence to the picture with that. Like you have the green. Right now it just looks like a red mistake on the edge of the page. I like what you're going for here though.

Re: some feedback

Also, there is no shame in using reference pictures. People who have been at this for decades still use them. Why? Becuase the human brain is stupid and really has like no idea what things look like in real life.

Re: some feedback

You know what you do? You draw like, every day. Like, every freaking day.

Oh, and accept that your art will never be perfect. It will only ever be the best you can possibly do at that moment and time.

I dig that bee. Made me giggle.

Re: Dismal human nature

I think that I see the things that you listed mostly because you said that's what this picture repersents. I personally don't see gloom and depression. I see entrapment, rage, anger. Red is a very powerful color, very passionate. Depression and gloom usually aren't. Since this is very old I'm sure y...

Re: Red Scull

E, if you look at the eye area in the missing half of the skull you'll see where the lighting meets it makes a circle pupil. In the first pic this is random and off center, in the second it mirrors the other half. As for tablets, well they can be really pricy. So really it depends on your budget and...

Re: Grandmother portrait

Happy to see you didn't completely drop the abstract grunge background you had there. The newest version looks like an old photo that is beginning to fade. Which is pretty sweet. And honestly, she kind of looks like my grandma. So that's pretty neat for me. I would like to see a little more warmth i...

Re: Help me through the woods

Thanks, E! I was a little worried about the red because the paint I used was not my normal brand. It came out well though :-).

Thank you Relusion, I was def going for more of a shadow feel.

Re: Red Scull

Moving the other pupil was a good choice! Layers! Aren't they useful? Might try adding a slight gradient to the skull to give shadow and depth. I totally dig watching your progress.

Re: Is watercolor best for a newbie?

Oddly every teacher I've ever had has started us on watercolor first. I do think Acrylic is the easiest to start with because you don't have to know as much theory. Also I would probably start with something like a liqutex set. Not the cheap-o paints from walmart or something like that. Use actual f...
