Its been a while since I was online & thought I would share a recent work. Its a new one for me being acrylic instead of oil, I was amazed how quick it dried
I have been getting back into making bonsai pots & thought I would share a couple of recent pieces waiting to be fired. All are carved from solid blocks of mixed clays. I am still very much a beginner with clay & dont even know if some of these mixes will fire up ok but I guess thats part of...
Hey Ehoeveler, Thanks for your feedback. I don't think my painting comes from any one influence tho I have a strong liking for Ian Fairweather, not just his art but his person. No real significance to the red, just how the canvas came together as I worked thru the loss of someone I admired & res...
Hey Jenn, thanks for the feedback. When you say clean up the lines I am not sure what you mean. The whole canvas is about foolscap size, I wouldn't know where to begin or how to go about making it larger tho like the idea of doing it up to the size of my real dogs (great danes).
Hey Jenn, thanks for the feedback. I am probably a bit backward because I dont do any precomposing with pencil or ink, I rarely even use brushes! It was just a quick ditty to put down my first impressions after meeting someone, therefore I probably see more than most in it. At the moment it is sitti...
Hey Joe, Thanks for the feedback, the thread title is also that of the work. I often sketch in black, using negative space to fill in the detail. I have just posted another in a similar style http://www.asingularcreation.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=6580 . Let me know what you think. Matt
"An artist needs to know why he paints not just how." Because I have a thousand images flying thru my head every second of every day I breath this air around me. It started with gardens & sculpture then classical japanese gardens with highly detailed pencil renderings of individual sto...
2 more sessions, another litre of turps plus a dozen or so 5ml syringe barrels and its starting to get close. Sorry for the crappy pic quality, yet another art I am yet to learn fully...
A new oil on canvas I started today, not sure if it is finished or not, the fact it has a title makes me think it is. Really keen to hear what others think.
Thanks for the kind words everyone. Abstract for me is one of the hardest to do well, probably why I pursue them over other things. This was my inspiration and I feel I missed the mark by a long shot. Hanging high on the end wall of my old A frame she had a view of everything, I saw many faces durin...
Wasn't really sure if this fit anywhere else on the forum. Its been quite a day & thought I would share some of it here. Start the day with boring domestics then grocery shopping, I loathe shopping full stop, having to buy food is even worse. Get to the shops & an art display is being set up...
Hi Jenn, Thankyou so much for the feedback, it helps no end and I will be giving it alot of thought. Abstracts are hard to comment on, as its subjective to both the artist as well as the audience. I think this is one of the things that draws me to it more than any other style of painting, everyone w...
I have never shown my work before apart from family & friends who obviously have to be nice... This is a recent work that was painted after some hassles erupted over one of my dogs (a merle great dane). 100_3565rz.jpg While I posted in the be gentle forum I really dont mind what people have to s...
