Re: trying for a fresher look...

Wow, E, the Akhenaten piece has changed so much!! and I cannot possibly pick a favourite stage. It seems to be one of those pieces where the outcome doesn't even matter, because there was so much involvement and stride in the process. I am sure this will be a memorable one for the stepping into new ...

Re: Forward and Clean II

I seem to remember another version of this, but I must say this one is superior. Great job on this one, Nigel!

Re: Wasp

Hi John! Your nail sculptures are so unique. Have you been doing anything figurative lately? I read your blog, and love your perspective on art making. I have been super busy since last September, and have been creating lots of new sculpture. Will have a collaborative show in July with a painter fri...

Re: Homo Apis

Nigel, great poetry, with a sensitivity and sensibility that speaks from the soul to the soul...love it. Somehow I associated the call with Ophelia or the Lady of the Lake rising and communicating with us. You should publish your poetry.

Re: Homo Apis

Thank you, dear old friends, nice to be back, happy to hear you like the sculpture. Nigel, yes, poetry and artwork is a great combination, sometimes poetry inspires the work and sometimes vice versa. Please, post yours if you like, I'd love to read it.

Homo Apis

One of my favourite pieces from last year. I also wrote the poetry to accompany the sculpture. When the falsetto hum of the sleek machines suddenly shuts down, hands of action reach for purpose, feeding rust-eaten buckets with streams of honey. Feet steady, backs loaded, the golden army pollinates t...

Re: Digital

Oh, I forgot to say Hi! I dropped by a few times, but the system gave me problems with the sign-in. I finally took care of it, hopefully the new passport will work. Fingers crossed. I will show some work later. Glad to see you working and being active here. :)

Re: Steps for getting your art shown

Hi Artfont, your work is lovely. I agree with E, probably a walk-in would be the best approach. Not sure that Toronto would be your best choice but there are some very good galleries in cottage country that might be interested in this type of art. There is an outdoor art show every summer in Bon Ech...

Re: Digital

Love these sketches, Elizabeth, but yes, definitely take them to canvas and develop them a bit more. I am looking forward to see them as paintings. People will find the most innocent ideas dark and weird if it is out of line of their linear thinking, so do not worry about that a bit. :) Plus it will...

Re: Crocodile Skull

Nice to see your (new) work, John. Hope you're doing well. I love this guy. The patina is amazing, love the rust showing through the coloured surface. I wish we lived closer so that I could learn technique from you...this would be so good for figures. I wouldn't have to worry about transporting so m...

Re: The Gift

Thanks Joe for asking. I am getting excited (and a bit scared) about a teaching opportunity at an arts centre near me. I have about three months to prepare for a two day workshop. I hope there will be enough people interested so that it actually takes place! Wish me luck. :)

Re: The Gift

I'll think about it, since the rest of her is pretty anatomically correct, maybe her breasts should be too. Thanks for pointing it out.

Re: The Gift

Thank you guys, you're so nice! That's so sweet from you John, but I only know how to build sculpture, not luck. Last year I made my first life size paper pulp figure, my biggest technical achievement considering I had no clue on how to build it, and yet I did. :) Anatomically not perfect, but hope ...

The Gift

One of my latest works. It is the end of the holidays, and the beginning of new endeavours and resolutions. The best gifts are invisible, cherish them, protect them always. All the best to everyone in the New Year!

Re: She Moves In Memories ~ Drawing

Wonderful drawing, flawless, but what I love the most about it is the eraser work. Very compelling and original effect on the background especially.
