  • My Real Name Judy Fontyn
  • Location: Brechin, Ontario Canada
  • Age: 58
  • Occupation: Strictly working on my art now.
  • Interests: painting, reading, travelling, gardening, any "Do it Yourself" home project
  • About Me: I have painted for 38 years, always selling painting to friends and family while I worked in an office job. Art has always been my passion and I have been doing it on a full time basis now, and trying to make a career out of it. I paint in watercolours and acrylic, I love nature mostly, the most beautiful artist of all. I am finding it hard to know where to start in order to sell work. I found one gallery and put two into an exibition. Some galleries don't allow new members without a high fee! If anyone has any advise I would like to hear it. Thanks!

Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you. I do feel your pain as you seek to get representation. I am still trying myself. Success seems to center on marketing and so I am trying to learn more about "Social Marketing" i.e. Facebook and the rest. My advice though is, "Keep painting, and cherish each brushstroke." After all, if you're passionate about painting, and painting brings you joy, fulfillment, and you paint because you cannot NOT paint, then you're already successful. Keep painting what you love, because you just never know ... right around the next corner, the opportunity that you've been waiting and hoping for has been waiting for you. So many give up before they reach the corner, and they miss out on the blessing. The other question, is one I often get. "How do you get such rich colors from using watercolors. My secret (and you can't tell anyone about it) I mix my watercolors with Dr. Martin Dyes, which are highly saturated dyes. Try it out, and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.

hahahaha Hi Graphixcat, that's funny, cats always do something that makes me laugh! This was the only message I got. Thanks for responding to me. I also wanted to ask you a few questions since I absolutely love your work. I noticed you paint in watercolours, but obviously in a different technique in the fact that your work is so real to life, life a photograph, what method do you use, I am very interested in knowing. I am a self taught artist, since high school when I found my love of art and never went to art college which I could not afford, and always did collections and accounts receivables . Now as I am older I decided to try it for a living. I have a couple of paintings in a small gallery, but how can I get more of my work into different ones, especially with no connections in the art world where I live in Ontario, Canada. I love nature , in all forms so your work just inspires me. Thanks so much, I hope to hear back from you.
