On behalf of the Tubman-Mahan Art Gallery of the Center for Green Urbanism, Authentic Contemporary Art is inviting artists to submit artwork for ReCREATE. This will be the inaugural exhibition of the Gallery and will showcase artwork that is made up of recycled or recyclable materials. It will coincide with the Center's official Grand Opening, scheduled for Friday, October 15, 2010. Open to U.S. artists 18 years and older. In keeping with the "green" mission of the Center and Gallery, ReCREATE focuses on art created from items that are normally thrown away but can be recycled. Recyclable or recycled objects must be incorporated into the artwork. read more

Still Point Art Gallery invites submissions for its upcoming online exhibition: Global Lifestyles: Large Cities, Small Towns, Tiny Villages. Some people love the big city, others love small towns, and still others enjoy a stay in a tiny village. Around the globe, the city, the town, the village. Each has its own skyline, view, personality, flavor, aroma, and feeling. Perhaps your art is inspired by where you live or maybe it is the product of your travels. In any case, artists are invited to share expressions of the global lifestyle, be it in the big city, a small town, or a tiny village. Open to artists 18 years of age or older from around the world who submit artwork in any medium except video and wearable art. Submissions must be the creation of the artist. Reproductions of original artwork are not accepted. Final selections for the exhibition will be made by the Gallery Director, Christine Brooks Cote. 12 12 Gallery announces an open call to all artists working with any photographic process to submit entries for its International Juried Photography Exhibition 2010. The exhibition juror, Dr. Patrick Amsellem, Associate Curator of Photography at the Brooklyn Museum, will award up to $1000 in cash prizes. Open to photographers around the world age 18+, working in any photographic process, may submit up to 3 images. Additional images may be submitted at additional cost for up to a total of 5 works. The Open Studios Press sponsors 6 competitions per year. Winners receive full color spreads in our nationally distributed periodical New American Paintings. We have divided the country into 5 regions (Northeast, South, Midwest, West and Pacific Coast), each of which is the focus of an annual competition, and have recently added a sixth competition for students enrolled in a US passed MFA program. Embracing Our Differences - Call To Artists

Embracing Our Differences invites artists, photographers, professionals, amateurs, teachers and students to participate in its 8th annual visual art exhibit celebrating diversity. National and international submissions are encouraged. 45 artists will be selected for the exhibit. The Embracing Our Differences exhibit will be displayed throughout the months of April and May 2011 at Island Park along Sarasota's beautiful bayfront. Since 2004, the exhibit has been viewed by more than 850,000 visitors. The exhibit will contain 39 billboard-sized (16 feet wide by 12 1/2 feet high) images of the selected artworks. In the judges’ discretion, an additional six "honorable mention" selections may be made. Final selections will be chosen based on artistic excellence in reflection of the theme "Embracing Our Differences". The art-work will also be evaluated on how effectively it will read outdoors when enlarged to billboard size – 16 feet wide by 12 1/2 feet high. Artists are encouraged to use bold saturated colors and strong lines. Final selections will be made by a 3-judge panel of professional artists, curators and art professionals. A total of $3,000.00 in awards will be presented. There is no submission fee nor limit on the number of entries. read more

Two-Point Perspective, Depth, and Accuracy

Two-point perspectives differ from one-point perspectives in their use of a second vanishing point. They also differ in another way: two-point perspectives never have horizontal lines. All lines except verticals are drawn to a vanishing point. Their are many ways to draw two-points, the best methods being ones we can easily remember and apply to the design process with relative quickness.
